Williams at Exeter alumnus becomes youngest current US Senator
Chris Murphy is perhaps a name not well known to most Exonians – at least, not yet. But the Williams College alumnus, who came to Exeter as part of the Williams at Exeter programme in 1994, is making a name for himself in US politics.
He served the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1999 until 2003 and the Connecticut Senate from 2003 until 2007. Mr Murphy then progressed to the United States House of Representatives, where he represented Connecticut’s 5th congressional district from 2007 to 2013, before becoming the youngest current US Senator at the age of 39 earlier this year.
Having achieved so much so young, we will watch his political career continue to unfold with interest.
