Winter City Drinks at Reed Smith LLP

The Rector, Sir Rick Trainor, and members of the Development Office team, were delighted to welcome over 80 alumni to the annual Winter City Drinks, this year hosted at Reed Smith courtesy of Praj Samant (1992, English) and Joanna Williams (1994, Jurisprudence). Alumni of all ages – ranging from matriculation years 1949-2012 – joined us for drinks overlooking Canary Wharf and Tower Bridge.

After a warm and generous introduction and welcome from Praj, the Rector spoke with enthusiasm and ambition about Cohen Quad, highlighting the progress that is being made on a weekly basis and is showcased on the blog: www.exetercohenquad.com. He continued with an update on the work of our students and fellows, celebrating their successes and diversity, including the creation of a new Exeter College Conservative Association! As usual, the Development Director, Katrina Hancock, spoke about the power and value of alumni giving, and encouraged those present to set up regular gifts to Exeter, or at least to make a gift every year. The College – Fellows and students – remain so grateful to all those alumni, many of whom were there last night, for their generous and regular support for bursaries, teaching, travel, and careers advice. We are able to do so much more for our students because of your help.
