Green Impact Team

Exeter's Green Impact Team

The Green Impact Team is a group of students, staff and Fellows participating in the University’s Green Impact scheme. This is based on a United Nations award-winning programme designed to support environmentally and socially sustainable practice in the College. The team has been meeting fortnightly in term time, and also co-ordinating with Green Impact Teams at neighbouring colleges. Students have been encouraging each other to switch off electrical appliances and lights and reduce waste, while staff have been promoting the existing support for sustainable travel to work. Our Sustainability Officer has been documenting the steps that the College is taking towards decarbonisation.

Having a group of fourteen students enthusiastically participating in the team is extremely positive and is helping to build momentum as we take steps to become more sustainable. We are delighted that the Green Impact Team’s work to make Exeter College more sustainable has been recognised in the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Environmental Sustainability 2023 with a Gold award. The team is now refocusing its efforts to move longer term projects forward and focusing in more detail on issues such as waste and biodiversity.
