Exeter alumna Fiona Boulton awarded an OBE

Exeter alumna Fiona Boulton (1985, PGCE) has been named on the New Year Honours List and awarded an OBE for services to education. Since her graduation from the College, Boulton has become an invaluable leader and contributor in her community.

Having served as Deputy Head for five years, Fiona was appointed Headmistress of Guildford High School in 2002.  She led Guildford to becoming the lead school in the Teaching School Alliance, composed of 42 Academies and 14 Independent schools across the United Kingdom. In 2013, Boulton was named a National Leader of Education. From 2019 to 2020, Boulton was the Chair of HMC Independent Schools. She currently serves as the associate director of the University of Cumbria, and sits on the Ofqual Advisory Group and the Pearson Advisory Group.

Exeter College warmly congratulates Fiona on this exceptional achievement.

Fiona is not the only member of the Exeter community to be honoured in the New Year Honours. Supernumerary Fellow Professor Marian Knight was awarded an MBE for her contributions to maternal and public health and alumnus John Alpass (1964, Literae Humaniores) was awarded an MBE for services to the community in Claygate, Surrey.
