Outreach is about opening doors. When I was a prospective student, still in secondary school, a door was opened for me that led me to study English Literature and Language at Lincoln College, Oxford. Fast-forward a few years, my role as Schools Liaison Officer here at Exeter now allows me to open doors for others.
The best thing about my job is opening the college doors to students that never thought Oxford was an option for them. Showing them the chapel, eating with them in hall, and taking them up onto the mound to look over Radcliffe Square is always such a magical experience – it is like experiencing the college for the first time!
Working at Exeter, with the college staff and student ambassadors, is rewarding and varied. I have met so many people that inspire me, and it’s nice to feel part of a team. A particular highlight is working in the Outreach Office with Access and Outreach Lead, Ellie – our school visits, residentials, and subject days are our way of sharing the wonder of Oxford (and Exeter College!) with as many students as possible.
